THERAPISTS-Pornography and sex Addiction
Matthew Opoien, amft
My approach:
I have always believed that people can rewrite and recreate their situations by addressing those barriers that have blocked them from their potential, their goals, and their dreams for a fulfilled life. I encourage clients to speak of their experiences and their reactions, identifying those traits and behaviors that keep us from positive outcomes. I believe that it is through revelation of self that we can find our truth thereby allowing us to progress into our lives full of hope and fervor. I utilize a variety of techniques but my foundation is within the school of Psychodynamic. I believe that revealing our inner truths and beliefs, we can rewrite who we are and realign to our true purpose. I also use proven techniques from the schools of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Gestalt. By confronting and challenging our truths, we can also find new vision. Our thoughts and beliefs may be in the way of our goals and dreams and through these avenues, we can reexamine and discover the changes we desire.
My experience and certifications:
I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (CA #130939) actively working towards full licensure under the guided supervision of my clinical supervisors. I hold a Master’s degree from Brandman University at Palm Desert in Clinical Psychology and have 6 years working as a professional therapist. The bulk of my experience is within process addictions which encapsulate everything from substance abuse to sexual addictions. I am currently working towards my certification for Sex Addiction (CSAT). I am also heavily experienced with addressing the relationships between Methamphetamine use and Sexual Behaviors. By addressing some key components of “Meth driven Sex” I can help you address and change your belief structures around these components.

Clint Newell, LPCC, CSAT-S |
My approach:
I believe that no one is beyond hope, and by changing the way we tell our stories, we can change the way we see ourselves and the effect we have on the world. I encourage clients to define what wellness looks like for themselves and help them find the path to physical, mental health, relational, and spiritual wellness. I use a variety of techniques including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to change the way that people conceptualize themselves and world around them, correct faulty thinking and to provide new tools for emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
My experience and certifications:
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC #25) with a Master's degree from the University of Colorado at Denver in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education and 18 years of experience working as a professional counselor. I am also a certified coach and I help people break free from porn and sex addiction. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and I have many years of experience treating sexual addiction and sexual offending. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Qualified Supervisor qualified to work with individuals, groups, couples and families.
Testimonial:
"Clint has an apt ability to listen combined with a knowledge of how to ask the right questions. Instead of giving cheap answers, he will get you to the heart of a problem. He will give a straightforward answer when it is needed, but he loves asking questions that dig deeper than simple habit adjustment. He will challenge you to ask yourself the tough questions, which has helped me feel confident and equipped for future struggles. While he is always there to help, you can tell Clint's goal is to get you to a place where you have the tools to overcome your own obstacles." - Chris, La Quinta, CA
